Roy Ribo’s three decades as development activist has had him worked in national farmers’ federations and national government agencies.
After the Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, he went back to his hometown in Jaro, Leyte, ground zero of the devastating typhoon, and assisted in building back a better coconut livelihood of small coconut farmers.
He was instrumental in the formation of KAMMPIL AGRICOOP in 2016, a cooperative of small coconut farmers in Leyte and established an integrated coconut processing center owned and operated by small coconut farmers. He is a product of a mentoring program on Entrepreneurial Management of the Department of Trade and Industry.
He is currently representing small farmers in various national and regional platforms including the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF), National Steering Committee member of the Rural Agro-enterprise Partnership for Inclusive Development and Growth (RAPID Growth) of the Department of Trade and Industry, Vice Chairman in the Eastern Visayas Coconut Industry Development Council, Regional President of Agriculture Cooperatives, and Coordinator of the Asia Pacific Farmers Program.
