I jointed with the Herbarium Bogoriense, Botany Division, Reseach Centre for BIology, LIPI since 1977 as research assistant until I retired on 2016. Since I work at the Herbarium Bogoriense (BO), I have published more than 80 new species of bamboo, more than 90 published scientific paper in the country and also abroad, and more than 5 books. During my work, I have received many awards such as the The best young scientist in 1997 amd 2011, Bintang Jasa Utama from the Indonesia President in 2000, Harsberger Medal by Society of Ethnobotanists in 2001 and also the ASEAN Meritereous Service Award in 2014. Many students has been supervised especially from Bogor Agriculture Institute, State University of Jakarta, University of Indonesia.
